San Blas is the patron saint of Pampaneira, along with Santa Cruz. The patron saint festivities in his honour, on 3 February, are organised by the Mayordomos (stewards) of La Alpujarra municipality in collaboration with the Town Council.
Throughout the day, there are various events, including the ringing of bells, the offering of flowers, a Mass in honour of San Blas, and a procession through the streets of Pampaneira, as well as music.
It is customary to hand out blessed red ribbons to cure sore throats, and during the procession through the streets of the town, it is customary to throw rice at the saint.
