The Sulayr Festival is an initiative that brings together music, heritage and cultural ecology. Since 2016, it has been held in the municipality of Pampaneira, where every year the Barranco del Poquiera (Poqueira Ravine) is filled with a variety of sounds ranging from traditional to a fusion of ethnic and contemporary styles. The tinaos, typical spaces of La Alpujarra architecture, become the perfect setting for musicians and spectators to share a unique experience.

The festival is characterised by the coming together of local musicians who live in the area and musicians from different countries. Alongside them, an ethnic programme combines in-house productions, world music concerts, radio programmes, parallel activities, and small and medium-sized music events in the tinaos.
