In this recreational area, you can enjoy the waters of the Poqueira River, which originates in the central area of the Sierra Nevada, specifically in the Cebadillas area where the Toril and Naute rivers converge, which in turn originate from the confluence of multiple streams from Mulhacén and Veleta. It is a natural space that invites visitors to enjoy nature during the summer months.

It is a recreational area that includes a water fountain and a traditional wash house. People used to gather here to wash clothes, fetch water and socialise. Today, it is a rest area where visitors can enjoy the beautiful wash house.

The Barranco del Poqueira (Poqueira Ravine) is home to a wide variety of wildlife. The Poqueira is a mountain river that rises in the peaks of the Sierra Nevada and flows down to the coast of Granada. It is a very important water resource for this area, both for irrigation and for hydroelectric power generation.
On both sides of the river, which is of great natural beauty, ecological importance and a tourist destination, there is a wide variety of plants and trees, such as oaks, chestnuts, pines and larches. As for aquatic plants, there are water lilies and duckweed, grasses and shrubs on the banks. There are also medicinal and aromatic plants, such as thyme, rosemary, mountain tea and fennel.

Chestnut (Castanea sativa): a very common tree in the area, especially in the lower areas of the municipality.

Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis): a species of pine found in the driest areas of the park.

Gall oak (Quercus faginea): a deciduous tree found in the lower areas of the park.

Pyrenean oak (Quercus pyrenaica): an evergreen tree found in the highest areas of the park.

Sierra Nevada violet (Viola crassiuscula): a flower endemic to Sierra Nevada found in the highest and coolest areas of the park.

The environment is rich in animal and plant species. There are many species of fish such as trout and barbel, water birds such as herons and ducks, and aquatic mammals such as otters and beavers.

Mountain goat (Capra pyrenaica): This is the most representative animal of the Sierra Nevada. It is found in the highest areas of the park.

Golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos): one of the most representative birds of the Sierra.

Iberian newt (Lissotriton boscai): an amphibian endemic to the Sierra Nevada that is found in the park’s watercourses.
